Footwear and footcare products
provider Spenco Medical Corporation
has introduced two new insole
products: Total Support Thin and Total
Support Max Insoles.
The new models feature its The

promote
healthy
biomechanics, absorb shock and provide
support and alignment. Other features
include variable-flex stability cradles,
low-friction antimicrobial top cloths and
metatarsal support, which offloads
pressure from the ball of the foot.

everyday athletes, offering semi-rigid

active people who need semi-flexible

BAMBOO PROJECT
PRODUCES NEW FOOTWEAR
LINING MATERIAL
Spanish textile technology institute
Aitex has worked with manufacturer
Tex-Petrel to develop a new product
called Gootex. The product, made from
bamboo fibre, has natural antimicrobial
and anti-odour properties, with added
aromatherapy
and
moisturising
functionality through microcapsule
technology.
Aitex said on announcing the
development that it believed Gootex
would work best as a footwear lining
material but added that microcapsules
technology in textiles was an area with
“huge potential”.
Bamboo fibre is an attractive raw
material for Gootex, it continued,
because it is biodegradable and comes
from renewable resources. “It’s
completely respectful of the environ -
ment,” Aitex claims.
The Gootex project was developed
with financial support from the
European Commission and from the
Valencian regional government.
MAIN GROUP UPDATES TWO
MACHINES IN ITS RANGE
Italian
footwear
machinery
manufacturer Main Group has
announced revisions to two of the
machines in its range.
Its SP.45 and SP.80 models, both
extruder and piston-screw with 60 and
130 tonnes of clamping force, have
been revised and are now being
produced by more efficient methods,
the company has said, allowing it to
keep production costs down without
compromising on know-how.
FINANCE IDEA TO HELP
SHOE MANUFACTURERS
BUY MACHINERY
A Chinese footwear machinery
manufacturer has said that a new
payment programme it has devised is
proving popular with small- and
medium-sized shoe companies there.
Emma Group, a Dongguan-based
supplier of cutting and design
technology and machinery, has said
customers responded positively to its
finance idea when it presented it at a
footwear exhibition in Jinjiang City
recently. It has partnered with a
financial institution to make it possible
for footwear manufacturers to buy new
machinery by paying a deposit and then
a series of instalments.
Chief executive, Wang Guoquan, said
the idea will work just as well as
footwear manufacturers were able to
apply successfully to their local banks
for a loan.
NEW FOOTWEAR TESTING
CENTRE IN PUTIAN
A new testing centre for footwear has
been approved in the Chinese city of
Putian in the important shoe
manufacturing province of Fujian.
The new facility, part of a wider
science and technology development
programme in Putian, will provide
product testing services to local
footwear manufacturers.

PELÉ SPORTS PUTS SPECIAL FOAM IN FOOTBALL BOOT
Foam manufacturer Zotefoams has supplied its new lightweight
thermoplastic elastomer PebaxFoam material to German sports footwear
brand Pelé Sports for use in its Trinity 3E football boots.
Trinity 3E boots weigh only 170 grammes each, but offer high levels of
protection against injury, the sports brand says. It quotes studies from the
University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany that it says show the Trinity 3E to
allow faster movement compared to other high-performance boots.
The design team worked with Formula One engineers “to strip away all
unnecessary weight”, Pelé has said, and every material was selected for its
lightness, functionality and durability. The PebaxFoam, a closed-cell,
crosslinked foam based on the Pebax thermoplastic elastomer from Arkema,
is used in the sockliner of the boot.
