REEBOK HOLDS POP-UP
EXHIBITION
Reebok, a subsidiary of German
sportswear company adidas, has
teamed up with UK-based
Wallpaper
Magazine
, to invite five creatives to
each produce a piece of work inspired
by the Reebok footwear styles ZigTech,
EasyTone, RunTone and RealFlex.
The collaborating artists are:
Spanish architects A-Cero, French
designer Ora Ito, UK film production
house Partizan, Italian designer Fabio
Novembre and Christoph Behling, the
German founder of SolarLab Research
& Design.
The interpretations made their debut
at the Reebok X Wallpaper Pop-Up
Exhibition in London in July.
MERRELL CONTINUES CANCER
CHARITY SUPPORT
Outdoor lifestyle brand Merrell has
extended its partnership with a UK
cancer charity, Breakthrough Breast
Cancer, into a second year.
Merrell is promoting a line of
footwear with highlights of pink (the
international colour of breast cancer
awareness) to raise money for the
charity; 10% of the retail sale price of
each pair will go directly to the cause.
Research has suggested that a healthy,
active lifestyle can help to prevent the
onset of cancer, which affects nearly
one in nine women in the UK.
The footwear brand has committed
to raising a minimum £20,000 from
the initiative.
FILA SIGNS CLIMBER
ALEX PUCCIO
South Korea-based sports apparel
and footwear firm Fila has announced
that it has signed a multi-year
endorsement agreement with US-born
climber Alex Puccio, considered one of
the best female boulderers in the world.
The agreement with Ms Puccio is part
of Fila’s goal to expand its outdoor
category in South Korea as well as its
minimalist footwear category led by its
Skele-Toes in the US.
BUREAU VERITAS APPOINTS
FOOTWEAR CONSULTANT
Conformity assessment and
certification services group Bureau
Veritas has appointed Jack Brown as
its global footwear technical
consultant. Mr Brown brings more
than 30 years of leather and footwear
expertise to the group.
In his new role, Mr Brown, who has
previously worked for Clarks, Peter
Black, Scholl Footwear and Intertek,
will work with retailers, brands,
importers and manufacturers to
improve their footwear quality, meet
growing legislative requirements, train
staff on a wide variety of footwear
issues and generally support
companies in all aspects of the
footwear supply chain. He will also
deliver a series of seminars on various
footwear topics: the first sessions,
‘Basic Shoemaking’, will take place in
September in London and Warrington.
