New headquarters for
Sanita in the US

anish clog manufacturer Sanita
Footwear has announced that its
US division has relocated its
headquarters
from
Temecula,
California, to Houston, Texas.
Sanita’s hand-crafted clogs are
manufactured and imported from its
European factories, and the new
Houston location will provide a
centrally located US distribution
headquarters, the company said.
“This is an exciting move for us at
Sanita,” said chief operating officer,
Claus Thomsen. “We know that we
will be able to better serve the
growing needs of our retailers and
customers, and we look forward to
expanding our US division.”
A new distribution centre in Houston
will also open at the start of 2012.
Houston is the base of new Sanita
chief executive in the US, Albert
Chidiac. As a long-time Sanita retailer,
Mr Chidiac is familiar with the brand
and its products.
“If my experience in the footwear
industry has taught me anything, it’s
that customers appreciate a shoe of both
comfort and quality,” he said on taking
up the role. “I couldn’t be happier to take
this position at a company that shares a
passion for giving customers these two
vital attributes in every pair of shoes.”
Timberland to put
OrthoLite insoles into
Radler Camp shoes

pen cell foam insole manufacturer
OrthoLite has announced that it
will supply its X-40 insole technology
to Timberland for use in its Radler
Camp shoes.
Timberland describes the Radler
Camp as a versatile, lightweight and
compact trail shoe, which wearers can
fold and zip up (each shoe has its own
zip) for storage. The outsole is made
from 42% recycled rubber.
From spring 2012, the shoes will also
have OrthoLite insoles to increase levels
of breathability, moisture control, anti-
microbial protection and cushioning.
Belle breaks ground on new
tannery in Jiangsu Province
P
rominent Chinese footwear
brand Belle International is one
of the partners involved in a new
tannery project in the Suzhou
Economic Zone in Jiangsu Province,
to the north of Shanghai.
A ground breaking ceremony for the
new Bailian Shangduo tannery took
place on November 21. Belle’s partners
in the venture are Hong Kong
Shangduo Leather and Xinxiang
Leather Company. They have said the
new facility will be able to produce 50
million square-metres of shoe upper
leather per year.
